Top Chefs in Australia Say No to GM foods
Yea! There is some good news today on the GM front. Take a look at this article in today's Sydney Morning Herald:
More than 50 of the country's top chefs have united to protest against the introduction of genetically modified (GM) food crops to Australia.
Last month, GM canola crops were planted for the first time in NSW and Victoria after the two states announced they would let their bans on genetically engineered food crops expire.
In response, local celebrity chefs including Neil Perry and Kylie Kwong have signed on to the GM Free Chefs' Charter, launched in collaboration with Greenpeace in Sydney.
The charter, unveiled at chef Jared Ingersoll's Danks Street Depot restaurant in the inner-city Sydney suburb of Waterloo, calls for the NSW and Victorian governments to reverse their position on growing GM canola and demands thorough labelling of all food products that contain GM ingredients. See the whole article here.

Obama's Magic - See Maureen Dowd's article
"Barack Obama has fused two of the most powerful narratives in American history — those of Martin Luther King Jr. and Camelot — and that makes him both magical and vulnerable."

Australian Beekeepers' Crisis Meeting
New South Wales Apiarists (beekeepers) Association holds a crisis meeting (which I attended). See this article. I was there trying to alert them to the bigger crisis of GM crops destroying their hives just like it has in America. But this wasn't really on their minds much. They reminded me of the frog sitting in the pot that is on a slow boil. It won't realize until it's too late that it is being cooked.

The Great GM Revolution being Forced Down Our Throats (literally)
Dear Editor,
Has the Herald become a mouthpiece for Monsanto? Why have you printed such a glowing positive article about the future of GM crops in Australia? Most of us hate GM foods, and soon we will all be only eating out of our gardens to avoid the stuff. Please stop this headlong rush to extinguish the human race. When Monsanto can feed their bogus food to the bees, and they thrive as a result, then I will know it's safe to eat. Before that, I remain one skeptical consumer, who doesn't like being conned either by your company, or the new so-called environmentally friendly labor government.
